DAILY WORK/HOMEWORK:
Students are expected to dedicate a certain amount of time each week to prepare for the upcoming class discussions. In addition to the assigned readings, students will be required to prepare for in-class work which may consist of multiple-choice questions, chronological questions, and answering Socratic questions. The latter may require students to research more evidence to support their position, which they will then bring to class and discuss with the entire class. Furthermore, to deepen their understanding, students will also spend time researching and writing a monthly essay.
Class Participation:
All interactions during class must be conducted in a civil and respectful manner. Polite disagreement is a necessary component of reasoned debate. Participation in class discussions and completion of the assigned readings are mandatory for fulfilling the course requirements. Attendance is also mandatory for face-to-face classes, starting from the first class meeting. If any student is unable to attend class, they must inform the teacher in advance.
Sick Policy:
- Please stay home until you have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of any medication.
- Students who are experiencing symptoms but are well enough to participate should notify the teacher and join class via Discord.
Parent Communication:
Due dates for all work are clearly communicated in your Canvas course. Student account IDs and passwords are to be shared with parents. Parents are invited and encouraged to check their student’s progress and grades on a weekly basis. Final grade reports for your records will be issued after the school year ends.
Please notify me via email before the first day of class of any airborne or contact allergies that I need to be aware of for this year (latex, eggs, milk, nuts, etc.).
Supplies:
Students are required to bring their books, paper for taking notes, and a writing utensil to every class.
Student Conduct Policy:

As a registered student, you assume the responsibility of conducting yourself in a manner that contributes positively to our learning community and that does not impair, interfere with, or obstruct the orderly conduct, processes, and functions of the class.
